In Hawaiian my name means Beautiful Star Golden Bird. My friends call me Nani. My father and his ohana were Hawaiian or Kanaka Maoli from the islands of Maui and Oahu. He would call me by my middle name, Kulamanu, and since he passed away 5 years ago and never got to see me become a silver smith, I thought I’d pay tribute to him and name my business after what he would call me, Kulamanu.

After I graduated early from high school, I went on to college and started working in pharmacy where I would stay for 13 years. 

I eventuality left pharmacy for something that would calm my anxious soul, working less with people and more with dogs and animals. In 2018 I opened up a little mobile grooming business and I have been grooming rescue dogs and anxious pets ever since.

After researching my ancestry more and more it became clear to me that my ancestors were very talented makers, creators, and healers so I thought I should honor them in a new way. I’ve always had high anxiety and my creative outlet would be art in some form, so in the latter part of 2021 I was introduced to and learned how to silver smith!

Fast forward to 2025 and the tables have turned! Now, I am a full time silver smith and a less-than part time groomer!
